It shall surprise most of you that everyday foods like eggs, bacon, dairy products and coffee are pro inflammatory foods. If ignored, inflammation can lead to severe conditions like cancer and diabetes.
Here is a list of pro inflammatory foods that you must avoid:
1. The "3 Ps"
These three Ps stand for processed, prepared or packaged foods. Fast food tops the list of pro inflammatory foods due to sugar, artificial sweeteners and harmful oils used in them.
2. Foods Containing Hydrogenated or Trans Fats
Such foods include cookies, buns and other baked goods. There is a possibility that you may find these foods without such harmful fats also, but most bakeries are known to use trans and hydrogenated fats for their preparation.
The fact that meat increases inflammation doesn't need to scare you to go vegetarian or vegan. You can consume them in small quantities as background dishes.
4. White Sugar and Sweets
The biggest culprits in this category are soft drinks and sweetened juices. Research has revealed that sugar is a very addictive and a highly inflammatory substance. One way to fight your food cravings is to opt for a fruit when you want to have something sweet.
5. Synthetic Sweeteners
Research has connected synthetic sweeteners to a number of serious health conditions, inflammation being one of them.
6. Food Additives
These include stabilizers, color and flavor enhancers, preservatives etc. Statistics reveal that such additives are a major ingredient of many foods consumed by children.
7. Dairy Products
Dairy products such as ice cream, butter, cheese, yogurt etc. cause inflammation primarily because these days they are loaded with antibiotics, hormones and other harmful ingredients.
8. Gluten-Containing Grains
Gluten is contained in most grains and is a major cause of inflammation. It is best to choose grains and seeds like millet, quinoa or buckwheat for baking.
This is yet another major culprit. Alcohol is high in sugar and is very damaging to the liver. It is in best interest to either eliminate it or consume it in moderation.
Avoiding these pro inflammatory foods can go a long way in letting you stay fit. There are no two ways about the fact that it shall require huge restrain and scrutiny of the ingredients of food in order to be able to avoid them.
