Pro inflammatory foods are food diets likely to cause the body to develop inflammations. In prolonged use, these diets are likely to cause chronic inflammation and consequently chronic conditions such as diabetes, certain cancers and coronary heart diseases. They have also been linked to excess weight gain or obesity. Some of pro inflammatory foods likely to fall in your diet includes:
Sugar is found almost everywhere. However, try to limit the processed foods, snacks, and desserts with excess sugar. In any case, opt for fruits instead.
Common Cooking Oils
They include safflower, corn, soy and sunflower. These oils are made with some cheap ingredients that promote inflammation in the long term.
Trans fats are mostly found in fast foods, fried foods, commercially-baked goods and partially hydrogenated oil preparations. They increase bad cholesterol, promote inflammation, obesity and insulin resistance.
All Dairy Products
Milk contains a protein called casein that's been directly linked to causing several forms of cancer. Milk also contains many other chemicals, such as growth hormones, antibiotics and puss that trigger inflammation. These harmful chemicals cause digestive problems, hives, skin rashes and even breathing difficulties, which are all forms of inflammation in your body.
Animals fed with grains such as GMO corn cause high levels of inflammation in the body. These animals are injected with antibiotics and hormones, which are passed on to the meat. In any case, opt for organic, grass-fed, free range meat.
Red or Processed Meat
This meat contains a molecule Neu5Gc that humans don't produce. Once ingested, this compound makes your body develop antibodies that trigger inflammatory responses. You should reduce consumption of red meat and replace it with fish or poultry.
Regular alcohol consumption causes internal inflammation and irritation to various body organs. This may lead to certain cancer development.
These refined grains have less fiber content and have high glycemic index. Products such as white rice, white bread, and white flour should be minimally used or replaced with unrefined grains. Most of the pro inflammatory foods in this category have also been heavily associated with gluten intolerance in most people.
Artificial Food Additive
MSG and Aspartame are two of the most common food additives causing the body to trigger inflammation responses. They should be omitted from most of your diet.
These pro inflammatory foods effects may not show up initially, but once these inflammatory effects appear, they may take long to treat, and therefore it is time to check your diet before these conditions take toll on your health.
