It's sad to know that more and more people suffer from joint pain as years pass by. There are several factors and causes including heredity, environment and lifestyle but experts believe that the biggest risk factor is the food we eat.
People suffering from joint pain are often limited to certain activities. Usually caused by inflammation of joints, spur or ligaments, arthritis can be very painful and people suffering from it usually choose to take ibuprofen and other drugs. However, you have to keep in mind that you can't rely on these drugs for years as these have bad side effects on your body. If you want to save yourself from the grueling pain, you should start educating yourself about some available foods for joint health.
Virgin olive oil
Antioxidants called polyphenols help protect the body from inflammation. Studies show that virgin olive oil has ample supply of this natural chemical. You're advised to use olive oils in cooking instead of ordinary cooking oil.
Some of the best foods for joint health are readily available. Citrus fruits like lemons and orange contain vitamin C, one of the major nutrients responsible for health of collagen. Collagen is the major component of your cartilage. It's best to eat foods rich in vitamin C but taking too much vitamin C supplements can even worsen some kinds of osteoarthritis.
Omega 3 rich foods
Among all foods for joint health, sardines and salmon can be considered as the best because of their dual benefits. Most fishes contain vitamin D and this nutrient is known to prevent soreness and swelling of body parts due to poor collagen formation. Salmon and herring contain considerable amounts of omega 3. Omega 3 triggers enzymes responsible for causing soreness of joints.
Foods for joint health are not hard to find. Even people who love to drink green tea have lesser risk of suffering from any form of arthritis. It's because of the fact that it contains compounds including epigallocatechin-3-gallate which is capable of lowering the production of substances and enzymes causing inflammation. If you feel any sort of joint pain, you should start drinking 3 to 4 cups of green tea every single day.
