As an arthritis sufferer, you know very well that the foods you eat are very important for your overall well being, especially given the fact that if you don't respect a certain diet, you're going to make your condition even worse. With that being said, if you have been recently diagnosed with arthritis, below we're going to take a closer look at a diet for arthritis sufferers, that's going to make you feel better and reduce your pains when compared to eating a regular diet.
A great diet for arthritis sufferers definitely includes fish. One thing about people who suffer from arthritis is that their body contains a much higher level of cytokines which greatly increase inflammation in their system. The good news is that the omega 3 acids in fish will suppress not only the cytokines in your system, but other inflammatory chemicals as well. On top of that, these good fats are going to minimize your triglyceride and bad cholesterol levels, too. Some examples of fish you can include in your diet are anchovies, sardines, herring and salmon.
If you want to follow a diet for arthritis sufferers, then it definitely needs to include whole grains. Various studies performed on arthritis sufferers who ate whole grains, including barley, brown rice and oatmeal revealed that they managed to greatly reduce their levels of CRP, which is a market of inflammation in the system. Whole wheat breads and pasta are also recommended, since they contain selenium, a very powerful antioxidant that fights inflammation.
Last but not least, no diet for arthritis sufferers is complete without olive oil, which in Greek mythology symbolizes peace. In the AJCN, the studies performed on people who consumed extra virgin oil revealed that they had a much lower chance of developing arthritis than those who didn't consume or consumed very small quantities of olive oil. This positive effect of olive oil on the human body is due to some of the anti inflammatory ingredients it contains which have the power to lower inflammation. Not only does olive oil make for a great anti inflammatory solution for those who suffer from arthritis, but at the same time it can also be used when preparing many delicious foods where people use it as a substitute for trans and saturated fats.
Remember, the sooner you start including these foods in your diet, the faster you're going to feel better and reduce your inflammation.
