Arthritis is one of the worst health nightmares that everyone should strive to avoid. This health complication not only reduces the productivity of a person but it also subjects the person to a lot of discomfort. This complication affects all types of people especially those who are not watchful about what they eat.
Foods that trigger arthritis
The following groups of foods are known to trigger arthritis and therefore, it is advisable to avoid them:
1. Fried foods
Fried foods contain a lot of fat as well as calories and they should be avoided. Examples of fried foods that trigger arthritis include donuts, French fries and deep-fried appetizers among others. They increase the fat content in the body. The increased fat content subjects the joints to stress thus increasing their wear and tear. Fat is also known to be metabolically active and it produces certain hormones and chemicals that increase inflammation of the joints.
2. Sugary foods
Food groups that contain simple sugars e.g. fruit juices, candy and soft drinks increases the levels of blood sugar thus causing inflammations in different parts of the body. Individuals who crave these types of food are advised to stick to low-sugar snacks and organic foods.
3. Dairy products
Some dairy products are known to contribute to arthritis because they contain a certain type of protein. This protein irritates the tissues especially those located around the joints. Such dairy products should be replaced with natural foods. In addition, foods such as beans, lentils and quinoa are an excellent source of plant-based protein.
4. Inflammatory foods
Generally, arthritis is characterized by inflammation of the joints and any foods that tend to promote the inflammation should be eliminated from the diet. Inflammatory foods that trigger arthritis are known and they have been documented in different materials. While some people may think arthritis can be treated effectively using medications, it is important to understand that medication is never effective like avoiding foods that tend to trigger it. It is recommended that we replace inflammatory foods with natural foods that will not affect our joints.
