When possible, also include unprocessed whole grains like whole wheat, whole oats and such other whole grains as replacement for white flour when going for cereals and breads.
For ideal health, animal proteins should be cut down to as little as possible. However, most people enjoy their beef and chicken too much to eliminate these from their diet. Eating too much protein in a single meal makes it hard for the body to digest it, so it gets stored in the body instead. As a result, you will gain weight. For plan-based protein, the good sources are beans, sprouts, legumes, seeds and nuts. In fact, most people are surprised to learn that spinach has more protein per calorie than beef. As well, it is a complete protein by itself and because it's plant-based, it is highly bioavailable, making it easier for the body to utilize, unlike animal-based proteins.
