Arthritis is a common medical condition that causes inflammation in the joints. Obesity, previous injury or your genetic structure are some of the factors that may cause this condition. The symptoms of chronic inflammatory arthritis include deformity, severe pain and restricted movement of the affected joints. Certain foods can help relieve these symptoms. So, if you are suffering from this condition, it would be beneficial to strictly follow an anti arthritis diet.
Anti Arthritis Diet
Fruits: You need to eat lots of fruits as they contain flavonoids which help reduce pain and inflammation. Moreover, they are antioxidant-rich foods which help boost the immune system, thereby helping to heal the frayed joints. You need to incorporate fruits high in vitamin C, such as avocados, bananas, strawberries, apricots, kiwi fruit, mangoes, papayas, peaches and mangoes, in your diet.
Vegetables: Vegetables are also rich in antioxidants, minerals and vitamins. You need to go for vegetables high in vitamin C and beta carotene, such as collard, sweet potatoes, squash, broccoli, spinach and carrots.
Fish: Fish are rich in omega 3 fatty acids and vitamin E, which help reduce common symptoms of arthritis such as stiffness, pain and swelling.
Nuts and Seeds: Nuts and seeds are high in vitamin E and omega 3 essential fatty acids, which are essential in the treatment of arthritis. Eat unsalted nuts and seeds such as almonds, pecans, Brazil nuts, sunflower seeds, linseed and pumpkin seeds.
Grains: Some of the grains you need to include in your anti arthritis diet include whole wheat, millet, brown rice, chickpeas, oats, soy products and barley products.
Anti Inflammatory Foods: In addition to the aforementioned foods, you need to eat foods with anti inflammatory properties such as apples, garlic, ginger, avocado oil, wheat grass products, green tea and extra virgin olive oil.
Following a proper anti arthritis diet will significantly improve your condition. On the same note, avoiding processed foods, sugar, oily foods, soft drinks and caffeine can significantly reduce arthritis symptoms.
