Arthritis is a terrible joint disorder that brings pain and discomfort to a great number of people. Thankfully, there are a number of proven treatments that can help relieve pain and inflammation. First things first however, you should avoid over the counter drugs such as Ibuprofen. While these can relieve pain, there are a number of studies linking them to cardiovascular disease and increasing the risk of kidney cancer. Whilst the chances are minimal, it is still a risk. It's much better to try natural remedies first; there is a diet for arthritis sufferers that is pretty effective.
A diet for arthritis sufferers need to include a number of specific things. It has to be rich in vitamin C and D, as well as containing plenty of calcium to promote healthy bones and joints. As an added benefit, a healthy diet will also reduce the risk of heart disease and obesity. The latter of which reduces the weight on affected joints to help ease pain. The diet for arthritis sufferers should include plenty of fruits and vegetables which are rich in vitamin C.
Calcium is found in all manner of leafy greens. Calcium is essential for keeping bones strong and healthy. Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables, especially leafy greens because they are excellent sources of calcium. Most people are unaware that the body cannot utilize the calcium from milk and other dairy products very well (which is why osteoporosis is so common despite high dairy consumption). Finally, vitamin D is perhaps the most important in terms of helping arthritis. Your body creates vitamin D from the sun but it is also present in oily fish such as salmon. Choose wild salmon because farm raised fish is fed with GMO corn (which has now been banned in many countries).
The last thing necessary to consider with the diet for arthritis sufferers isn't to do with food at all. The affected and inflamed joint needs to be moved. If possible, you should exercise and move the affected joint. Perhaps one of the worst things someone suffering from arthritis can do is keep movement to a minimum as the joint will simply seize up even further.
And so there you have it, some tips to ease the pain and inflammation of arthritis naturally: A healthy diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables, some sunshine and oily fish.
