A healthy diet menu can be planned with wholesome food that does not take long to prepare. Making all your meals from scratch is much better for you than prepared food as you will avoid chemicals and high amounts of salt found in commercially made food.
It is a good habit to always eat breakfast. A healthy diet menu for the first meal of the day could include oatmeal with fruit of your choice as well as soy or non fat milk. Juicing fruit or vegetables is an excellent way to begin your day as it will provide energy. These foods all contain fiber and protein which will keep you feeling full longer.
Your healthy diet menu for lunch could include a salad. You can use any of your favorite vegetables and can add nuts or seeds for extra flavor and nutrition. Pine nuts and sunflower seeds are delicious in salads. The salad can be completed with a home made dressing using flax oil.
Other quick lunch ideas are a salmon sandwich on multi grain bread, soy or plain yogurt with fruit and almonds or baked beans with vegetables. Homemade soup with a vegetable broth can include carrots, celery, onions, potatoes, turnips, squash, broccoli and cauliflower and can be frozen in individual containers for a fast lunch.
Then for dinner, stir fry meals are suitable for a healthy diet menu. Almost any vegetable is nice but red or orange peppers add good taste and color along with green or yellow vegetables. Olive oil is the healthiest option for frying. Although flax oil is very good for you, it loses its nutritional power when heated. This is why flax oil is better used as a salad dressing, or added to cooked vegetables.
Other meal ideas for dinner may include veggie or salmon burgers, cooked brown rice with mushrooms, onions, and your favorite vegetables, grilled skinless chicken or fish with roasted vegetables and tofu prepared as you like.
It is quite easy to have a healthy diet menu using a variety of foods that do not take long to prepare. Eating foods that are plant based rather than animal are low in fat and good for heart health. It is also easier to maintain a good weight with these foods.
