In today's quick paced life, the majority of individuals cannot find the time to eat 3 nutritious meals per day. This is why snacks or mini meals are highly essential for boosting your metabolism. It is generally accepted that aside from eating 3 small meals, you also need to eat healthful snacks in between which will help you maintain your weight as well as provide the needed nutrition of fiber, carbohydrates, healthy fats and proteins. This information is about some of the foods that you can add in your healthy snacks list.
Fruits are among the healthiest, with regard to snacks. They contain vitamins, which are needed by your body to function properly. Some of the nutritious fruits that you should include in your healthy snacks list are strawberries, bananas, grapes and apples. Just don't overdo it, as fruits also contain a lot of sugar. You should limit your fruit intake to 3 servings per day.
Vegetables are an excellent option. They are very nutritious and tasty and need a little preparation. Baby carrots, radishes, green pepper and broccoli are examples of vegetables that can be eaten as snacks. Spinach is an excellent choice for a salad, as it is a super-food with no fat and, per calorie, spinach has more protein than red meat.
Nuts and Seeds
If you include adequate quantities of nuts and seeds in your healthy snacks list, your body will be getting sufficient amounts of proteins, vitamins, fiber as well as minerals needed by your body to achieve and maintain optimum health. For example, cashew nuts are low in fat and are loaded with antioxidants which aid the body defend itself against several biological stresses. Peanuts are rich in proteins and contain anti-aging chemicals called resveratrol. Sesame seeds are excellent sources of minerals like copper. Keep in mind that nuts and seeds also have a lot of calories.
Your list should also include healthy drinks. You can drink green tea in between meals to decrease your cravings for food. Drinking green tea will help you slim down because it burns fat and boosts metabolism. In addition, some studies have indicated that green tea aids to boost the immune system. Avoid fruit juices, as even the 'no sugar added' packages still contain a lot of sugar.
Snacks help you remain energetic and fit. There are several options for snacks which are very simple to prepare and will also provide your body with energy it needs to stay healthy and active. Ensure you include variety within your healthy snacks list, because it can get boring eating the same snack over and over again.
