Arthritis can be agonizingly painful the moment it strikes. The pain normally lasts for a couple of hours or even several days. This is the main reason why prevention still remains the most effective method when it comes to arthritis management. Since most instances of arthritis are caused by foods that are consumed, particularly high-purine foods, sufferers of the condition must ensure that they avoid foods that trigger arthritis.
Quite a good number of foods have purine. Some foods that have high purine content include red meats and seafood. As a matter of fact, these are the main foods that trigger arthritis. Some good examples of foods which fall in this category include tuna, salmon, anchovies, mackerel and sardines. Excessive consumption of shrimps, lobsters and crabs also trigger the condition. Despite this, indulging in the sea foods occasionally will not expose you to danger.
Stay away from red meat if you can. Majority of high-protein foods have high levels of purine and are consequently considered to be foods that trigger arthritis. Such foods include roast beef, steak and most grilled foods. If you have to, only eat these foods moderately because your body requires protein in order for you to stay healthy.
Other food items you need to avoid include foods produced from yeast, meat extracts and some nuts. Examples of some nuts are almond nuts, peanuts, cashew nuts, hazel nuts and many more. The most ideal foods you need to eat are vegetables. Even as you indulge in the vegetables, you need to remember that there are some that have high purine levels and some examples include asparagus, spinach, mushrooms and cauliflower.
In order to have an effective diet plan, alcoholic beverages should also be avoided at all costs. Drink eight glasses of water instead every single day. A proper diet is the key to proper arthritis management. By maintaining a diet that is free from the high purine foods which are also foods that trigger arthritis you will effectively lower the risk of causing the condition.
