No matter how healthy a lifestyle we live, toxins will still be present in our body. A detox diet will cleanse your body, remove toxins, and give you a lot more energy. It will also allow the immune system to function at its best.
A good detox diet is a juice fast. When we juice, our bodies still get all the nutrition that we need each day. The enzymes aid digestion and help us eliminate toxins efficiently.
If you decide to go on a juice fast, you may need to prepare your body ahead of time. Abruptly changing your diet to one of juice only may result in very frequent trips to the washroom and can interfere with your daily routine. You may want to begin by juicing daily each morning for a short period of time before beginning the detox diet.
For best results, you should use mostly organic vegetables such as leafy greens, broccoli, carrots and celery. Make sure you use the leafy green tops of the carrots, too. You may also want to use cabbage, although that can cause gas with some people. The other vegetables are easy to digest and contain lots of vitamins, minerals and fiber.
When preparing the juice for the detox diet, it is preferable that you only make enough for one serving so you can drink it fresh and consume it all within one hour. If this is not possible, because you are going to be at work or away during the day, the juice should be kept in an airtight container and kept cold. The reason why this is important is because nutrition is lost when exposed to air. All juice should be consumed at least within 24 hours, if not sooner.
How long you remain on the fast will depend on when you detoxed your body last, how well you tolerate it and your personal preference. A juice fast is a good detox diet because it cleanses the body while still providing you with nourishment every day.
